Study of the Hull Structural Deformation Calculation Using the Matrix Displacement Method and Its Influence on the Shaft Alignment

The analysis of the influence hull deformation on shaft alignment is predominately conducted using finite element method (FEM), which time-consuming, labor-intensive, and challenging to use for iterative design optimization. In this paper, separated into two parts—global local deformation, simplified a single-span beam model grillage model, respectively—then solved matrix displacement (MDM). Compared FEM, proposed has small calculation error, proving its correctness, while time greatly reduced. been used calculate ship under various conditions evaluate alignment. results indicate that certain conditions, bearing reaction forces are constant, whereas pressure changes as consequence change in shaft-to-bearing angle. comparison between rotation angle reveals bearings positions follow distinct laws.
